ajax and macromedia and active-x

I need to be able to load macromedia flash player (active-x control) to operate in a web site that has ajax enabled. Without the macromedia object the site works properly.
When I add in the macromedia object it sits with the message "2 items remaining waiting for...". The 2 items are the macromedia objects.

Please advise.
